Our review of Cheap Laptops Under 100 that run Windows 7 concluded that Windows XP is the end of the line as far as software that will run on Laptops Under 100 Dollars. However cheap Laptops Under $200 can be found which will run Windows 7 quite successfully. A good example is a cheap refurbished IBM laptop, the Lenovo Thinkpad T40. A recent review of eBay auctions found a Thinkpad T40 available for under $200 and this laptop will run Windows 7.

The advantage of running Windows 7 compared to Windows XP is that the Windows 7 has the new user interface and isn't plagued with the UAC frustrations of Windows Vista. A refurbished IBM Thinkpad T40 for under $200 will get you a solid laptop that has wireless capability and built in internal Blue Tooth availability.

Since most of these cheap laptops under $200 are units coming off of corporate lease they are in good condition and show only minor signs of wear. If you are at all technically inclined or have a friend who is, a
memory upgrade to 2GB memory will make you think you have brand new laptop. The additional memory is cheap and make Windows 7 play even better regardless of the laptops age.

A cheap laptop under $100 running Windows XP is a great buy, however for another $100 a laptop under $200 will run the latest Windows 7 from Microsoft.
